As I’ve been driving around central Vermont lately, I’ve come across a phenomenon: Homemade signs for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amanda Janoo. Most of them are along state Route 14 between North Montpelier and Hardwick, although one is within the Montpelier city limits.

The signs all feature colorful words on a bright yellow background. I don’t know the story behind these signs and I don’t really care. I just think they’re wonderfully refreshing.

Since this blog is not a journalistic enterprise, I’m not bound by the strictures of Election Day nonpartisanship. Besides, this isn’t an endorsement of Janoo per se, it’s just a gallery of delightful images. If I’d seen any creatively handmade signs for Gov. Phil Scott, I might have included them. But nope, all you see from Team Scott are the recycled yard signs from past campaigns, featuring green lettering on a while background and a faint green-and-white checkered flag behind the lettering. Yawn.

The signs speak of the authentic grassroots enthusiasm that fuels the Janoo campaign. Don’t know whether it’ll win her the governorship but while we await the returns, let’s enjoy the pretty pictures.

If you read this before the polls close and you haven’t voted already, get out and do the thing. No matter who you vote for.
There, see? Nonpartisanship.
